PhotoniCare, Inc. Signs Exclusive Distribution Agreement with Adachi Co., LTD to Commercialize the TOMi Scope [OtoSight Middle Ear Scope] in Japan

PhotoniCare, Inc., a medical device company headquartered in Champaign, Illinois, has signed an exclusive distribution agreement with Adachi Co., LTD (Osaka, Japan) to commercialize PhotoniCare’s TOMi™ Scope [OtoSight Middle Ear Scope] device throughout Japan.

PhotoniCare’s TOMi Scope [OtoSight Middle Ear Scope] uses an advanced light-based technology to see through the eardrum. For the first time, physicians can view a high-resolution depth image on-screen to directly visualize the middle ear contents. Current diagnostic tools can only provide a view of the surface of the eardrum, so physicians are left to guess or, unfortunately, employ invasive surgical procedures to diagnose middle ear pathologies. PhotoniCare’s non-invasive solution eliminates the guesswork, providing users with objective data upon which to base their decisions.

Ryan Shelton, PhotoniCare’s Co-founder and CEO, commented, “We are very excited and honored to partner with the team at Adachi. Adachi’s strong market presence in Otolaryngology, as well as their expertise in navigating Japanese regulatory and reimbursement pathways, will ensure a powerful launch of the TOMi Scope [OtoSight Middle Ear Scope] in the Japanese marketplace. We see this partnership as further validation of our technology and its potential to impact healthcare in a meaningful way. We look forward to a long and fruitful relationship with Adachi.”

“The TOMi Scope [OtoSight Middle Ear Scope] technology can help explain the current condition of the middle ear, which will be very useful in the diagnosis and treatment of middle ear infections,” said Mr. Saburo Adachi, President and CEO of Adachi Co., Ltd.  “We believe that with technologies like the TOMi Scope [OtoSight Middle Ear Scope], we can play a role in improving the quality of medical care in Japan.”
